Coordinator of Volunteers – Island Wide
In accordance with the vision, code of ethics and mission of Vancouver Island Dogs Rescue Society we are looking to fill a position that will help our Society pursue it’s ultimate goal of becoming a premier rescue on Vancouver Island. This position will include reporting to Members of the Board of Directors of Vancouver Island Dogs Rescue Society—and helping bridge the gap between the volunteers in the various communities represented by VIDRS.
We are looking for a volunteer who will be responsible for the monitoring, evaluating, reporting and organization of volunteer applicants for VIDRS. This position will work intimately with members of the Board of Directors while maintaining contact with successful volunteer applicants. The position will require the applicant to have an understanding of VIDRS as a Society as the individual will help teach, train and mentor volunteers in the various duties and roles and the conduct required to properly represent VIDRS and its vision. Joining the Board would be helpful for the fulfillment of this role to learn about the rescue and keep apprised of daily rescue workings.
The position will include screening applicants, and contacting when the rescue is in need of their assistance.
Skills and Assets:
- A love for dogs and people!
- Varied experiences around dogs and the dog community on Vancouver Island.
- Ability to evaluate and organize volunteer applicants and identify work for them.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work for self and others.
- Ability to communicate effectively in both writing and verbally.
- Ability to identify and address the needs put forth by the rescue.
- Ability to develop an appropriate organization system, application questions.
- An understanding of the Code of Ethics of Vancouver Island Dogs Rescue Society.
What we really need? Someone with a big heart and some extra time that they would like to utilize for the betterment of dogs on Vancouver Island and within Western Canada.

Fundraising Coordinator– South/Central/North Island (Because we are island wide there are varying needs in each community)
In accordance with the vision, code of ethics and mission of Vancouver Island Dogs Rescue Society we are looking to fill a position that will help our Society pursue its ultimate goal of becoming a premier rescue on Vancouver Island. This position will work directly with members of the Board of Directors of VIDRS as well as volunteers to manage day-to-day fundraising activities, lists of contributors, fundraising events, mailings and donor contact.
The ideal candidate would be enthusiastic, detail oriented and comfortable multi-tasking to make deadlines. The job will include organizing and managing day-to-day fundraising as well as large annual events. They will need to keep a spreadsheet of donations and supporters and maintain relationships with past donors by sending out thank you cards and organizing appropriate retribution for their contributions. (Call outs, logos placed on posters, etc… etc…) Marketing for events by creating posters, pamphlets, or advertisements online may also be part of this position. The position will require the applicant to have an understanding of VIDRS as a Society in order to properly represent their vision, morals and values.

- Ability to use Microsoft Office to create spreadsheets and posters.
- Maintain spreadsheets to track and log donations and donor lists.
- Marketing experience would be an asset.
- An Outgoing and friendly personality would be a great asset!
- An understanding of the Code of Ethics of Vancouver Island Dogs Rescue Society.
